View Full Version : Alfa Romeo 159 - which colour?

Decided it is - or nearly - Alfa time. Looked at the 159 TI spec, black one looks fantastic, but the silver one, classed as 'used', has only 50 (five zero) miles on the clock and is £6000 cheaper
So, if, fellow forum readers, you were in the market for one of these machines, which would you go for? (these aren't the actual cars, just photo's of the paint finishes) Perhaps another colour altogether?

Of those two, there is no doubt in my mind: BLACK!!!!!! Or maybe Alfa Rosso:icon_thumleft: Looks gorgeous:) But not silver, as I think it is way to Corolla or Avensis.......:( But of course there is the old saying: Money talks, bull%#& walkslollol Go for the one that says: Lucky Jack come and buy melol Good luck with your decisions:icon_thumleft: No matter what, it is a really cool car:cool:

Black is nice, but dont let that picture fool you. That car is far from standard equipped model with its big alloys, red brake calibers and chrome mirrors. Plus that photo has been improved with photoshop. Ok, silver or grey might be a little dull, but anyway you look at it the 159 is a georgeous car and will definitely give you loads of driving pleasure. Besides you´re going to be sitting in it so it doesnt really matter what colour the outside is! And with some nice alloys grey is going to look nice too! Go for it!!!:icon_thumleft:

Thanks for your input folks. I've been pondering this for a while, and wasn't sure which model I really liked. The only way to find out was to go and look.
First I looked at a Brera. Fantastic looking car but completely unpractical. The two rear seats are only good for babies in infant car seats, or people with no legs :( Looked at the GT next, but although it has a little more room, looks a bit dated now. So, the 159 was next. The one in the showroom was the 2.0L diesel with 170BHP TI spec. It was the paint finish that appealed most. Black Carbonio, sort of metalic flake black. Marvellous! Went for a test drive in the 1.9 diesel 150BHP car, also TI spec but that was the Argento Alfa Silver. It was excellent. But....Really wanted the black one. The showroom price on the black one was about £25500 - salesman said he could knock £1200 off that straight away, but, the silver one only had 50 miles on the clock, and was £6000 cheaper
Finally, this is all VilleV's fault. His recent new car blues thread got me thinking again. IT NEVER STOPS lol

I´m so so sorry!lol But as you said it, it never stops, but it has highs and lows. The lows I can handle, but the highs are difficult...:D And even if you go and get a new car the fever will only stay away for a little while!:p

Well I have not got the blues for the 500 yet....It is still a stayer in my garage:icon_thumleft: But I have finally found a Panda 1987, red with 4x4 and only 67000km`s on the clock!!!! And it has even got the twin sunroof:eek::eek: I WANT IT SO BADLY:cool::cool: But I dont have the money right now, even tough it is relatively cheap( about €1800). I wish I had never bought that new TV a few weeks ago:(
Sorry for the OT!!!

That Panda sounds avesome! Hope you find the money if you really want it! It´s a definitive classic already, and if you really think about it, it´s a necessity in Norway to cope with all the mountains!!!lol
I´m (read we´re, my girlfriend and I that is) keeping the 500 too. Eventually we´re going to sell her Corsa and get something to replace that. The 1-series BMW is still a strong contender.
Sorry about off topic...:icon_rolleyes:

Of course the black one. In my opinion the silver colour is most ugly colour for a car. But it depends of your economy, 6000 pounds is too much money.
Why don't you wait till the release of the Giulietta. It's the big brother of the MiTo. It is planned to be released to the market this Spring (at least in Spain).I like it soooooo much!!!!

Nooooooooo! disaster :yelling::yelling: Inevitably, as a married man I have to take in to account the wishes and desires of my wife and partner of 23 years. She didn't like the 159 at all :crying2: Didn't like the driving position, and said she wasn't confident reversing it - even with the parking sensors etc.
What is more annoying, is that I'd found a brand new 2.0L TI spec in Carbonio black £2700 off list price :infuriato: Back to the drawing board then.
Who needs a drink? :(

Oh man, I am so sorry to hear this:( I take it your drawingboard only can draw italian cars tough?
You can wait for the Guilietta you know, which will be availeble soon:icon_thumleft: Maybe she likes that one better...... Or what about a Spyder? How much space do you need? Good luck with the search anyway:icon_thumleft:

Isn't there too much GM inside the 159, even if the car looks well? Wouldn't it be better to wait for a real Italian car?
I think you should look forward - dry your eyes! And be proud to have a wife who knows so much about car building! :D

If its an italian car you´re after have you though about the Delta. It´s a great looking car and has some good engines available too. Surely not everyones cup of tea, but very personal looking thing for sure!

Black is ... well ... BLACK :icon_thumleft: Only for two, but the new Giulietta is a good choice. Like that even more than 159.

That 8c is fantastic. A bit pricey though :)
Going back to the original plan and looking for an older sport coupe or cabrio. A GTV or Spyder to have as a fun car for use on Sunday's lol I've got a garage that lies empty when it's not full of rubbish. Time to put something in it. :D
The Alfa dealer lowered the price on the Argento 159 even more, but there's no point if the boss doesn't like it. I quite like the look of that Lancia, but in the UK Lancia no longer has a franchised dealership network. New Lancia's can be ordered through Fiat dealers apparently, but I'd want to look at / drive a car before I bought it ;)

I love the new Lancia Delta! Three months before the official release of this car in Spain, Lancia offered a limited edition of 100 Deltas with more equipment than usual, and I was one of the 100 owners to have the opportunity to but it.
I did a reservation of one Delta bi-color in light blue with roof in dark blue with engine 1.6 with 120 p.s. multijet and s lot of extras like sunroof, leather seats, etc... The price was very high: 24.000 €.
The only condition I asked was that the leather seats would have to be in blue color. When the car arrived, it was not bi-color outside and the leather seats were in black.
As the dealer was very angry and disagreeable with me since the first time I visited him, and the car arrived was not the one I managed, I decided to not buy it.
I am not regret now because I have a 500. Ha,ha! But I still like the Delta very, very much!
If you can find a dealer who sells the Delta and offers you the opportunity to drive it, I'm sure your "boss" would like it very much.
Good luck!:icon_thumright:

It´s totally unnessesary to test drive a car before purchase, apparently.:D Atleast that´s what I did with the 500! In order to test drive it I would have had to wait for 4 months until the first cars arrived here, but by not waiting to test drive I had my car here amongst the very first ones! I´m just happy I fit in it... Maybe not something I would do again tho!

Delta looks sweet:sex_: Unfortunately they dont even sell Lancia in Norway:(
A copule of new Lancia Deltas has been imported to Norway by car independent dealers; I personally love the looks of this car and initially looked on the possibility to buy one from a dealer outside of Oslo, that never materalized though.
Over at http://www.finn.no/finn/car/used/result?CAR_MODEL/MAKE=780&CAR_MODEL=1130 there is one for sale at 399.800,-

Yes I know, but they are way too priceylol And event tough the independent dealer of Lancias in Oslo do import them straight from factory with a 120 000km guarantee, they dont have the dealer network etc.... Would be easier if they were sold through Fiat dealers:icon_thumleft: And that would probably make them a bit cheaper to buy also:icon_thumleft:
