I was wondering if there would be much interest in the "500's To The 'Ring" trip where we basically go to the Nordschleife for a couple of days, was thinking sometime in September, would be a good chance for us all to get together.
I've started a facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/topic.php?topic=15467&uid=287730739793#!/group.php?gid=287730739793)
It's about £50 for a crossing at the moment through Norfolklines, plus fuel, a few nights at the 'Ring campsite & 21euros a lap.
Dates would be something like.....
Thurs 30th Sept - arrive in Germany, ring open all day
Fri 1st Oct - evening session, allowing a day exploring the area
Sat 2nd Oct - full day
Sun 3rd Oct - full day
Mon 4th Oct - full day, return home

It would be fine, it's not the size, it's what you do with iy that counts!!!!
It's all about having a fun time, in the spirit of the 500, be that a steady drive or a flat out scream around the track.

The trip isn't about breaking records. It's all for fun, enjoying our 500's, some nice food, good company & a few beers.
Oh, and "EARNING" the right to wear the "'ring sticker" on your car.:)

I would love to come, however I wouldn't want to crash as 1 - I wouldn't have the money to cover damages and 2 - the finance agreement I have states I have to keep it on the road and insured for the 5 years, so I wouldn't be truly free on the ring :(
I'd be up for coming along though and watching lol:Dlol

forgive me for being ignorant, but by 'The Ring' are you referring to Nurburgring?

Ring IS for Nürburgring, 150 kms from my hometown.
IN is for Indiana, isn't it? So you're close to the Old Brickyard! That isn't worse than the Ring!
You have OVAL races, with high tension. In Europe they most drive in one lineup for most of the race.

I always wanted to go to the ring, but ill rather rent a more powerfull car and get alittle more excitement than in my 1.2.
Ive been racing that track a million times in the Forza games (xbox360), and I just love it to bits :)

There's me, a mate of mine in an Alpha GTV V6 Cup car, a chap from Luxemburg in his Abarth 500, an a chap from Germany from The Fiat Forum in his 500.
I've got my insurance & ADAC cover all sorted. Stopping in Dover Premier Inn on the night of 30th.

I'll be coming down on the morning of the 1st, should hopefully only take a couple of hours for that bit.
What have you done in regards to insurance? I've had written confirmation through from my insurer that I am 100% not covered for the NS (argh), so I'm currently trawling the internet trying to find info on where to get hold of some. I feel I have probably left this far too late.
Is ADAC the best bet for breakdown cover? I have european cover with the AA, but I have a sneaking suspicion that they exclude the NS also.

ADAC are the only recovery company apart from the 'rings own that's allowed on the circuit.
I called my insurance company & asked them to list the specific exlusions, "derestricted public toll roads" (eg Nurburgring) are not excluded, as long as the lap isn't being timed!!!lol

Right, ADAC it is then!
Which insurance company do you use?

I'm with Admiral, have been for years. I understand that on new policies they may have restrictions.

Your problem made me curious. I've searched a bit, and I learned that on the Ring you have to follow the same laws as anywhere else. They fixed the status for the Ring as "one direction motorway", so there is no speed limit. Therefore - as far as your not in any competition - your assurance has to be in charge of eventual accidents.
It might be that you could get in a partial charge if you get involved because of extreme high speed.
If I get better knowledge I'll be back.

My insurance company have explicitly told me I am not insured to drive on the NS. In the event that I crashed and caused damage to another vehicle or the track/armco, they would pay out on a third party claim, and then seek to recoup the money from me at a later date.
