Hello!
I was wondering if anyone had any tips for removing scratches?
Some @@@@@r has scratched my black 500 down the rear quarter panel behind the rear side window, from the roof down to the bottom of the light cluster.
I cannot afford a respray and most of the scratches aren't too deep. One is quite deep however.
Is there a cost effective way to minimise the scratches and ensure the body work is protected?
Many thanks to anyone who has some advice!
Thanks,
Ewan

Depends on the scratches offcourse, but a good machine polish by a proffesional detailer might fix it! Or wet sanding followed by machine polish:icon_thumleft: Worth checking out I think:icon_thumright: Good luck:)

Try the Meguires Scratch-x 2.o version 2 or Meguires ultimate compound! Both can be used both by hand and DA:icon_thumleft: Offcourse you get a better result with less work if you use a DA:icon_thumright: But it is not impossible by hand either. As I said it depends on the scratches, how deep they are etc... Meguires has a lot of really good stuff:cool: I use it a lot:)
Good luck:icon_thumleft:

Cool will do. If DA is an electric polisher thing then I have one so will use it carefully. Fingers xd! :icon_thumright:

DA= Dual action polisher:icon_thumleft: Safer to use than a rotary polisher:)
Dual action is an ocillirating machine( uneven rotations).

Sorry to hear that. Some people are just plain nasty. I hope you manage to get it sorted. I was quoted about £1200 to respray the relevant panels on mine.

Have you noticed that the t*****s use white underneath the black paint? As soon as you get a stone chip it glares out at you.
I got some slight scratches from throwing a rucksack into the boot. The plastic buckles must have hit the paintwork. I thought it showed really badly but I used one of those wax sticks and polished it with black polish afterwards and it wasn't too bad.

Yep, i have a couple of chips too and they seem to glow! Very noticeable. I have just purchased a touch up set so should be able to repair the chips too.
Just gotta wait for it to stop raining now and warm up a bit!!

took the ibiza to work today and got one of our painters to polish the 1/4 panel and thankfully the scratch has come out , even though i work in a bodyshop it sill would have cost a fair bit to put it wright

Sorry to hear of the scratches... and on such a small car, they will be a lot more noticable. There is so little paint to begin with on such a small car... if you remove even the tiniest bid, it will glare at you:(
