Hello,
many drivers of the 1.2l model in Germany complain about engine vapour smell (hot oil, gasoline) that comes through the ventilation when the car is parked for a certain time and then started more or less still hot.
Is there someone with similar problems?

Thereīs a known problem with split engine breather pipe that causes hot oil smell in the cabin on cars with the 1.2 litre engine! Loads of people have had this problem, for example Wreckmaster from this forum! Just use the search function and you can find threads and posts about this with pictures of the pipe in question!

Yes I know that the hose is the problem, but itīs not always necessary that itīs visibly broken or damaged. Mine looks O.K., and some people who let it change had the bad smell a few days later again.
So for me it seems, that the breather hose that Fiat still uses is made of a not gas-tight quality. So are there any ideas or experiemce with better alternatives?
I heard that Ford ist using fot KA drivers that complain another hose that is made of better quality, but I donīt have a part number...
Regarding search funktion: Itīs hard for a non native english speaker to search and find, because if you use the wrong words, you wonīt find. Sorry....

:icon_thumright:Ok, no problem about the search function or the language, english is not my native language either. Using a Ford part sounds interesting tho! Iīve only heard about this breather pipe problem causing bad smell, but if someone else knows what else could cause it Iīd like to know too. Just in case..

The hose usually looks good from the topside but is broken on the under side of the hose:( The smell inside my car was gone as soon as the right hose was changed:icon_thumleft: But they changed the wrong one first:( So have them to check all hoses in the area of the airfilterbox:)

But I checked it when I had removed the entire air-filter housing for painting it and it was O.K., also the under side.

Could the ventilation be blocked somehow? This happend to an very old Vauxhall I had once and the smell came inside the car!

No, I donīt think so. In my opinion itīs the hose itself, the gases and oil-damp are able to pass trough cause itīs such a bad quality...you can feel it and also smell it...

Hi
I had this problem and it was the breather from the rocker cover to the air filter. The split was not obvious as it ran along the seam of the hose. Easy to find if you run a hand along it. The hose was replaced FOC and no problems since.
Hope this helps
