Had my little baby serviced yesterday and was informed that after only 18 months the exhaust backbox is knackered.
It's heavily corroded at the fwd seam, to the extent where in the dealers opinion it's got a couple of monts left at the most.
Replacement is IRO £300 - £181 for the backbox, plus the chrome tailpipe £75that's corroded in place so cannot be transfered, plus fitting!!!!
Got a price for a CAT back stainless system, tailored to my need (my choice of sound 7 tailpipe) for only £230 fitted.
So I'm off to get the stainless system fitted Friday.

What about a free one by using the car's warranty! ?

I bet this is a part that is not covered by the warranty... I suppose this is something I can also expect to happen to my exhaust then. Have to keep my eyes open for a replacement aftermarket exhausts..

Strangely enough, not being an idiot, I'd thought about that one.
The dealer informed mer that it's not covered, although they said in their opinion it was not acceptable so they called Fiat UK to see what they suggested. Apparently Fiat UK basically said it was tough luck.
So I also called Fiat UK, who also told me it was tough luck, they have opened a case for me but I'm pushing for some discount vouchers on the next service or similar.

I dont think I would have accepted that answer R500POP!!! Offcourse a exhaust should last longer than 18months:mad: I am quite sure that it would not happend here.... If my exhaust goes, and they say warranty dont cover it I would for sure take it to our consumer rights peoplelol Give them a hard time and say you will go to the newspapers or something..... Worth a try!!!

I agree with Wrecks. An exhaust should last at least five years even in our condition with road salt and long winters. Even an Peugeot exhaust lasts that long...:icon_rolleyes: Mine has some corrosion but only on the surface, the rust is no way near going through yet!

At the end of day it just means I can bring forwards the fitting of a rust proof stainless system.:icon_thumleft:
