Wrecky, I think that the Neckar is much more beautiful than the Panda and I'm sure Neckar is more expensive and valuable when the time passes.

It probably will, but it is too much work for me I have concluded:( I am not a very good mechanic, alltough I can do some smaller repairs! It is better to sell it on to someone who have the skill and knowledge to get it on the road again:) And the Panda is for sure a modern classic.......... They are almost impossible to get these days! I have been looking for a good one for 5 months now and not found any:( Before I found this one in Sweden:eek:

Wow that TC looks great, but I am afraid it is way too expensive for my budget:(

Well..... I bought itlol The last day and a half me and Guttemamma has been driving 1400km`s! 700km each way to the baltic coast and back:icon_thumleft: It was a warm ride back in an 1987 Panda without aircondition and with no radiolol But the car is great, the only real rust is in the lower parts of the passenger door as the seller described:icon_thumleft:
But it needs some work here and there, the most important thing is to clean the underside of the car which is very dry and starting to get some surface rust! Then I will prime it and oil the entire underside and also fill up doors and sills with oil to prevent any more rust! I have spoken to a friend of mine which will weld the small holes in the passenger door for me:icon_thumleft:

I have promised Guttemamma that I will not register it on norwegian plates before next year tough, as she thinks I have spent enough money on the car for this summerlol But that is OK as I am gonna put it in the garage anyway, so I can play with it there:icon_thumright:

Now I only have to sell the Neckar:) 4 Fiats is one to manylol

I am afraid today has been the worst dissapointment in my car owning career:( When I bought the car yesterday it was covered in sticky stuff from the surrounding threes, but from what I tought I could see it was in OK shape except for the rust in the passenger door:rolleyes: So today I proudly drove to show it to my father.........And he totally slaughtered it:(:( More experienced with old cars as he is, he found alot of starting rust! Nothing serious but it made me feel really bad, and that I have bought a wreck!( funny my nick is wreckmaster). He said it was not worth a dime more than I had given for it!:(:(

Dissapointed as I was I drove home not knowing what to do, so I decided to wash off all the three sap. So I degreased it, foamed it and rinsed it well with the highpreassure washer. Well the car got white, but it turned out that what I tought was old residue from waxing was really overspray from some previous owner flicking on it`s paint! Right now I dont wanna know what`s under that paint:eek::eek:

I also found a dent in the driversdoor that I did not see yesterday! It is not deep but pretty large( 10x10cm). I used about an hour looking at the car yesterday before deciding on buying it and I did not see that dent.... I just cant belive it:mad: I am really mad at myself today and have to admit that wanting the car made me blind and to do something stupid, buying it!

If I had bought it in Norway this would not have been an problem, but since it is a Swedish car and not taxed into Norway( just paid VAT) it will be almost impossible to sell it on...... Except for parts:(

On the bright side: It ran perfectly and is like new inside! It was also MOT`d in Sweden in February without any faults, so technical it is perfect!

Well here it is, before leaving Sweden yesterday. Norwegian test plates on the outside of the Swedish plates:

700km`s later and home in Norway. Still test plates but swedish licence plates was delivered at the customs on the border. This is after a quick wash and rinse( all I had time for today)

I hope you get it sorted in the end :-) The interior is spotless and that odometer is really low, its like that Almera I one had , 11 years only only 29000 miles lol

Itīs a 25-year-old italian car so itīs perfectly normal that itīs going to need some new metal! I dont think that is the end of the world, more like something many many people have to do every year before MOT. And considering it has a reasonably fresh MOT on it in my opinion proves that it cant be all rotten! So, itīs a project and you dont need to get it perfect immediately. And hey, the interior of the car does look really sweet!!! For sure that cars price is at itīs lowest at the moment and no matter what the value is only going to rise with time.

I totally agree with Ville. The car is rather old, and for its age it looks good. I don't think you ever expected that you'd buy the Panda and use it in the very condition you bought it.
You will like it even more when you will have worked it over!

It's really not the end of the world!

Good thing I could chear you up!:icon_thumleft: But seriously, look at any Panda or Uno that age ( if you can find any that is) and it will have rust on it. Like Peter said, for a car that old it does look ok and definitely much better than most -80īs Fiats!

True:) Selling it on is not an option anyway, so it is a keeper:cool: It is not the work that worries me anyway, it is the fact it is not worth the import tax:eek:

I will get that door changed or welded and grind down the rest of the starting rust, prime all the places and paint( good thing it is not much on visible places)! I will do this on the underside also and oil it so the rust dosen`t spread and get any worse:)

First job tough will be to give it a good polish as it is, just to see what I can get out of the excisting paint:icon_thumleft:

Pretty awesome that it was you who bought it:icon_thumright:

I had my eyes on it for a while, but ended up buying an -1988 4x4 instead (had been looking for one for years). Though the rust corrosion on that one was pretty severe, and took it to the scrapyard a few weeks ago. Still keep yours?

Yes sir, I`ve still got it:) It is a keeper:cool: ONly problem is the norwegian "tull" faires:( So I haven`t decided if I will put plates on it next year or if I should just wait until 2017 when it is legally a classic. If I wait, I dont have to pay that much tull(customs). Anyway it is dry stored in my garage and I can rent test plates on it a few times each year:) Will have to change the passenger door tough, or get it welded.

Before I bought it, it had passed it`s MOT at Svenska Bilprovningen:icon_thumleft: I love the fact that everybody thinks a Panda is the ugliest car ever madelol Thats why I like it so much, and because it is a future classic:cool:
