View Full Version : Abarth 500 @ 225 km/h (140 mp/h)

Last sunday I made a quick ride back on the motorway, driving four minutes at full power with my Abarth 500, getting a real speed of 225,4 km/h (140 mp/h). The speedometer of the Abarth goes ahead too much at higher speeds, so using the GPS is the best and most precise option for getting the true speed. Thatīs the way I did it. :icon_thumright:

Cool that you video'd the drive :icon_thumleft: I got mine to just under 140mph but then lost confidence as I thought the police might be around and I would be screwed if I was caught lol

Did you have your sport mode on when you did this?

Hey Kertallica! Yes, the sport mode was turned on. The motorway went slightly downhill. The air temperature was 14 °C / 57 °F. :-)

I can't remember what the temperature was when I drove... I think around the same as it was quite a few months ago. I could imagine it would take longer to get there without the sport mode on lol

I did 170km/h on the autobahn with my 1,2pop:icon_thumleft: I was quite surprised it managed to drive that fastlol It was on the speedo tough, so not sure what the GPS would have said:)

The experiences with the Abarth 500 tell me that the 150 km/h on the speedometer are real 140 km/h. :)

Probably something like that on the normal 500 also:) I guess maybe there is some difference between my 15" winterwheels and my 16" summerwheels also! When I where in Germany I had the 16" on the car:cool:

Hi,

Sometimes I just pop over the border to Germany for doing this legally.
The only problem is to find a free of traffic part of the highway that is not speed limited.
Sunday morning is the best because of the trucks.biggrin2
