Thought I would post this from the Abarthisti forum to see whether anyone would be interested in coming. They need to know by Friday I believe to know whether it can go ahead or not. (Apologies in the lateness of me informing you )

On Sunday 26th September, we will be holding an exclusive Driver Improvement Day at an airfield-based circuit in Staffordshire.

Organised in conjunction with Pulce Racing, the day offers a chance to improve your driving skills through a programme of circuit-based practice and one-to-one instruction with none other than Benny Simonsen, driver of the Abarthisti-sponsored Trofeo GB race car.

The day takes place at the Seighford Driving Centre, which features a circuit marked out using painted lines and coloured cones on a disused airfield complex. This smooth-surfaced circuit is regularly used for supercar experience days, and is well matched to the characteristics of the Abarth models. It provides a controlled environment in which to learn while still offering a challenge to those with more experience, and we will have the exclusive use of the circuit for the entire day.

The day will operate as a semi-open pit lane, with eight cars on track at any one time. Sessions will be capped to ensure everyone has the chance of equal track time.

One-to-one instruction with Benny Simonsen

Help and advice will be available throughout the day, and drivers can book a session with Benny to receive one-to-one tuition. Benny is an experienced ARDS-qualified instructor, and his calm and patient manner will allow you to work together to improve your on-track performance.

If personal instruction in your own car from the Trofeo GB's most flamboyant driver isn't compelling enough, the Assetto Corse race car will be offering the experience of a flying lap as a passenger around the circuit, with Benny behind the wheel.

Pulce Racing and TMC Motorsport

Once you've improved your driving, you might be tempted to start thinking about upgrading your Abarth, too. We'll have two companies, already well known to the Abarthisti, on hand to help you out.

Pulce Racing will have their range of goodies on display, and will be on hand to discuss any tuning or technical issues.

TMC Motorsport will also be in attendance, ready to supply and fit TMC Tuning Boxes to boost your Abarth's performance. Not only that, but the circuit provides the perfect environment to try out the TMC box's impact on your lap times.

We'll also have a VI Monitor available for testing and timing during the day.

Prices and Booking

Cost for the day is £99 per car and main driver, with additional drivers at £39 each. Helmet hire is included free of charge. If you or a friend would rather attend as a spectator, we have that covered, at a cost of £20 per head. All options include lunch and refreshments throughout the day. A session of personal instruction with Benny is just £15, while flying laps in the Assetto Corse are only £10.

To book your place, please complete the booking form below. You will receive booking and payment information via email in good time before the event. Terms & Conditions apply.

Q&A

Where is it?
Seighford is just North West of Stafford, and approximately 3 miles off the M6. It's about as centrally-located as you can get.

What time does the day start?
The day starts at 8:30am with a driver's briefing. All drivers must attend before being allowed on track.

I don't want to drive on track, can I still attend?
Yes, you're welcome to attend as a spectator at a cost of £20. You'll receive lunch and refreshments throughout the day, too.

Can I share the driving with my other half?
Yes, additional drivers can be added for £39 each, and that includes lunch and all-day refreshments for them, too.

Can I bring a friend with me?
Of course, you're welcome to bring spectators with you at a cost of £20 per head, and your friends will be fed and watered all day.

Can I bring my children with me?
Yes, but you are responsible for supervising them. Children under 16 will not be able to ride in the race car, and they will only be allowed on track as a passenger in your road car if they can safely fit into one of the smaller adult helmets available on hire, unless you can supply your own.

I don't have my own helmet. Can I hire one?
Yes, the cost of hiring a helmet is included in your entry.

What's the circuit like?
Seighford is a disused airfield with a smooth tarmac surface in excellent condition. It's used regularly to provide supercar experience days, with a circuit marked out with painted lines, coloured cones and corner kerbing. There's nothing to run into should you misjudge a corner and it's perfect for our uses.

Is it a race?
No, in fact, 'racing' against other drivers is not permitted, and overly aggressive drivers will be removed from the circuit.

I've never done anything like this before and am feeling a bit nervous about it all.
We've put this day together especially for you! The track is very easy to learn, and there are plenty of friendly faces around to make you feel comfortable. In addition, Benny is perhaps the most laid-back instructor on the planet. You'll love it, we promise!

How long do I get with Benny?
Obviously there's only one Benny, but you will have his undivided attention for a full track session. The exact length of each session depends on the final numbers attending, but you'll have ample time to benefit from his experience.

What happens if loads of people want instruction?
If necessary, we will provide additional ARDS-qualified instructors to ensure everyone receives the tuition they are expecting.

I'm worried about damaging my car. Can I get track day insurance?
Insurance is entirely optional. If you'd like to arrange your own cover for the day, give MORIS a call on 020 7638 0790. You can choose the level of cover that's appropriate to you.

Are there toilets on site?
Yes, we have exclusive use of all facilities.

Can you recommend accommodation?
The George in Eccleshall is available at reduced rates. Details to follow.

I don't own an Abarth; can I still come along?
Sorry, this event has been organised exclusively for Abarth owners, and only Abarth cars will be allowed on track. If you are waiting for your Abarth to be delivered, you are of course very welcome to attend as a guest.

You could come with me as a spectator if you fancied venturing that far. Sadly your F500 won't be allowed on the track :(
