It would be great but it is still too early to say. I´ve been talking to my girlfriend about going to the Alps and northern Italy in my 500, and this would certainly give a good reason to go! At the moment it seems though, that i´m unable to get holiday from work in july.

I'm also a member of thee University Photographers association of America and do a 20,000 mile round trip each year to their symposiums :)

There is no problem to drive across Europe, you can do it via ferry train which is really fine to Calais, then Belgium, Luxembourg (to take cheap fuel alcohol and cigarettes) and straight into France. Beware they don't speak anything else then French and they eat frog legs and snails. :eek:

Direction Strasbourg, Mulhouse, to see the legendary Schlumpf BUGATTI collection, then to Basel in Switzerland.
They speak any language if you bring money. biggrin2

Take direction San Bernadino pass and you are in Italy. They speak gesticulating with their hands so there is always a way to understand them!:icon_thumleft:
The area of the Lago Maggiore and Lago di Como is about the most beautiful place on earth after that you just continue direction Milano.
All that drive on the right side of the road.:icon_thumright:

I have been to UK already a few times, also to Luton.
It's something special to drive on the "wrong" side of the road.biggrin2

It's not difficult because you are so concentrated not to do something wrong.
The problem might appear when you forget to switch back to normal mode when you return home!

Excellent:) I belive the meeting is in a town called Erbe, a bit north of Milan in the Como district.
I think I will leave Norway thursday morning an drive all day and night and arrive in Italy friday morning. Then check into a hotel in Erbe and use this as abase for trips in the area etc... Meeting on Saturday, sunday don`t know:) , monday, tuesday just vacationbiggrin2 and wednesday leave for home.
I am bringing my wife so I guess I stay in the same room as herlollol

Mine too....But we all speak english so we will be ok:):) I think it will be a fun event. There is alot of hotels in the Como region, only problem is that it is high season... I hope Mak and the Italians come up with some more info as soon as possible so we can order hotels early:) I guess it is easier to get some cheap rooms if we order early. And like Cadbury wrote it would be nice to get together in the same hotel:icon_thumleft:

Would be nice to have confirmed the dates and all so we could order hotels etc as early as possible. After all it is in the main holliday season and in an popular turist area/destination so I think it would be smart to do bookings soon. I know cinquecentisti has got a comeetee or something like that, but I cant read Italian...

Today I ordered the hotel in Erba. I am gonna stay at the Hotel Castello Di Casiglio in Erba. So if anyone else is going, thats the closest hotel to the meeting I could find. I am gonna stay there from thursday 2 of july to sunday 5th of july. I also ordered a couple of days by the sea, in a town called Rapallo close to Genova. Dont worry Cadbury. We are staying close to Rhodos town( 4km`s) at a place called sun ving resort Kallithea. It is a all inclusive kind of place, great for the kids( I hope:p).

No I have not, we have allways stayed in the city of rodos. Ive been on the island four times so far and every time Ive been there Ive rented either a scooter or a car and tour around the island, and Kalithea being so near to the city Ive driven through it several times and also stopped a couple (also this year). Kalithea itself is a fairly small place, but there is a old spa there, which is surrounded by lovely small beaches and I bet your all-inclusive hotel has a great beach itself! And besides Rodos town its just a short trip away from Faliraki, which is, well lets say, little more party orientated resort... But you can find a great waterpark there to entertain the kids!:cool: Oh, and theres a really nice village near by called Koskinou.

Btw, If you visit Anthony Quinns bay near Faliraki be sure to watch out for jellyfish. I had a close encounter with one. Wasnt nice...:crying4:

We are now in Erba and is looking very much forward to tomorrow:) The drive down took exactly 24 hours and was very nice without any problems. Today we have been to Milano ( I was driving to the center of Milano:eek: ).
Italians are driving like crazylol

We are now in Erba and is looking very much forward to tomorrow:) The drive down took exactly 24 hours and was very nice without any problems. Today we have been to Milano ( I was driving to the center of Milano:eek: ).

I went by the Cinquecentisti Hotel tonight and met a few of the guys who are attending the meeting tomorrow. Only problem is that Italians mostly dont know a word English.....:eek: So the day tomorrow can be interesting in more than one waylol

When the meeting is starting tomorrow we are going in a convoy to Milano for a gathering at some official Fiat thing... Then we are going back to Erba for continuing the meeting, going to a beach, and at night there is a dinner and a concert. So I belive and hope it will be fun:)

We are now in Rapallo on the Italian riviera. Still a lot of 500`s in the streets:icon_thumleft: The little cinquecento suits the crazy Italian perfect, even tough I could wish I had a few more horses in the mountains and on highways. City steering is perfect:cool:

The meeting yesterday was a mixed success for me and my wife. Of all the people ther only 3 or 4 spoke english. So we kind of just followed the crowd without understanding what was happening most of the time. I dont really think Cinquecentisti expected us to come even if we had said so for months. I belive this caught them by surprise:eek:. Except for us the only foreighners there was a swiss Abarth and a french Abarth. And one guy from Romania had arrived by plane. They where all speaking Italian.

On the morning we drove to Milano and went to the official Fiat celebration on Piazza de Duomo. Where I did see the 500C for the first time. The car was absolutely beautiful, but the show was somewhat boring. Was over in 15 minutes or so......

Then we went back to the Serratore dealership in Erba and signed up for the 500 cruising in the mountains. We got a starting number on the cars and drove up in the hills through little beauiful mountain villages and to a parking area where we had an hours brake before going back to see a footballmatch between Ferrari formula 1 team(the mechanics) and club scuderia como. We where about 60-70 cars in the convoy, all 500`s:icon_thumleft:

When the match was over we went to a resturant and had a party. We left kinda early since it was not much fun for us not understanding what people where talking about.

I took A LOT of pictures which I will post here when I get back to Norway on Friday. But first we are gonna stay here for a couple of days and just relax on the beach. It is about 30 degrees and 20 something in the water:) Going scuba diving tomorrow.
