Jan 28, 11:59 am EST
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP)—Ferrari is trying to expand its presence in the Grand-Am Series.
The Italian automaker is close to unveiling a Ferrari 458 Italia GT built specifically for NASCAR’s road-racing series. The car is expected to be ready for testing in the GT class by the end of March.
Mark Raffauf, director of competition for the Grand-Am Series, and 1998 Indianapolis 500 winner Eddie Cheever made the announcement Friday at Daytona International Speedway.
Raffauf says at least six teams have shown interest in possibly switching to the Ferrari this season.
Cheever says the Ferrari’s presence could prompt other manufactures to follow. Porsche, Chevrolet, BMW, Mazda and Ford have cars entered in the Rolex 24 at Daytona.
this would be sooooo cool. I'm curious as to what teams are showing interest??? :icon_rolleyes:
