Tought it would be fun to see what model is the most popular one as this forum gets more and more members. Would also be nice if you 500 owners writes a few words why you bought the model you did.....

You forgot the Diesel 1.2/1.3/1.4 special editions.... ;)
I drive a 1.2 Sport.
Went for the 1.2 as it is reportedly the nicest engine in the range & I like little fiesty engines with character.
Went for the Sport trim as comparing the specs it had more of what I wanted on it. Main features were the darker tints in the back, fog lights, Blue & Me & the air-con. I prefer the wheels on it too, and I'm not too keen on the look of the glass roof from the outside of the car..
Went for the leather as it finishes the car of really well & it's easy to keep clean with the little 'un in the back.

I went for the sport for a number of reasons.
It's a 1.4 sport, thats the only sport they sell here
The main one was it's the only model you can get here without a sun roof ( don't fit in the ones with a sun roof)
Plus it has cool little red brake calipers :icon_thumleft:
Thee seats and not the ordinary leather that they use. biggrin2

What a good idea .... full marks :icon_thumleft:
Considered the Sport would be dearer on insurance and I liked the glass roof. Pop was basic and, by the time I added a few extras, the cost was nearing the cost of the Lounge. Besides, I had to get a car quick so could not wait months for delivery.
Colourwise, eliminated white/blue/green as my old 500 was all three colours, at difference times of course. There was a Punk Grey in the showroom and I loved it. Luckily for mebiggrin2, there was only one Lounge in the UK available.

Hi
I have the Abarth although the 1.3 Multijet would have been more reasonable.
I drove the Multijet for test about one year ago and it was really good, apart for the engine noise.
However when I went to the dealer last November to ask for the delivery date for a 1.3 Diesel, he had his own brand new Abarth standing there in grey with red leather seats (the same I ordered) and I couldn't resist.
I dragged my wife 3 times over there till she said that she would offer it to me as Christmas present.biggrin2

We chose the 1.2 POP because of the road tax , insurance , probable lower running costs and most importantly the basic price.
We did "upspec "it with alloys, chrome kit & mirrors, badge /side strips , rear headrests ,although you have to watch what you add because we were tempted pay the extra and go for a std Lounge .( We really liked the glass roof)
As things turned out ,we never got the one we ordered, due to delays and our Pop was in fact somebody else's cancelled order
The only option it had was the glass roof!? * And after some haggling the dealer changed the wheels and fitted the chrome ,at the right price .
We are really pleased with the outcomelol
*was this your order?

I changed my Fiat Sedici 4X4 for the 500 1.3 multijet, and now it seems that the 500 engine doesn't make any sound or rumour. It is so silent compraing it with the Sedici....:D

I started off looking at the Pop, due to the price, but then after adding a few bits and bobs on I figured the Lounge was very good value.
Love the Blue&Me, use it constantly. Have yet to use the Air Con though
The glass roof is really nice too, lets in a lot of light and makes it seem even bigger on the inside!

I am going to have to get the aircon looked at... it doesn't seem to get THAT much cooler than the normal fan, and I turn the airflow to recycle instead of taking air from outside.

Hi, I got the 500 1,4 sport, it was an bargain. The old importer had it, so it was sold cheap. The sales man called it 500 fire sport. Does anybody know if that is correct? I like it very much, have droven 1500 km since last tuesdaylol

I would give my left arm for an Abarth! A red one prefarably. But for now they are not officially imported here so I would have to go to Germany to get one, import it my self and then pay huge amount of taxes.:( If only I was able to get one for 13600 pounds, I know I wouldnt hesitate for a minute! You Brits are so lucky...;)

Ok.:( At current rates that makes 17503 euros. I paid for my 1.2 Lounge 17660 euros at the dealers, and that doesnt even include obligatory winter wheels or very necessary additional engine heater. Ad those and the price rises to almost 19000 euros, which makes over 16400 pounds! Of course we have to keep in mind that the euro is very strong against the pound at the moment, but still I must say I do hate the finnish taxes so much! I mean that in no way are the citizens of EU threated equally!

I have a 1.2 Lounge and I love it. It's black and chrome on the outside with the bigger alloys and inside - as I said on my video - 'It's all white - it's more than all white, It's lovely!'
The reason I chose it was that it was standing in the showroom smiling at me and they let me have it as soon as I gave them the money. I would have hated to have had to wait.
My previous car sadly is demised - a Red Mk1 MX-5 - and I had convinced myself I didn't need a replacement. However, travelling and shopping on a motor scooter in the winter is no fun at all. So I bought Tux.
I must have been meant to buy that car because four days after I collected it, my daughter gave birth to my first grandchild and I was able to drive 100 miles to see him!
Hurrah!

Abarth. Originally I was going to get a sport and indeed went for a test drive, then I began to see the Abarth rumours. My father had a Strada Abarth which as a kid I loved and the car always attracted my school friends attention. Fiat cars I have had previously like the Punto GT received the Abarth treatment and I always put Abarth badges on the cars. So when I noticed a real 500 Abarth in the offing, it could only mean one thing. Also, the pricing between the two cars isnt astronomical. Using the configurator, its quite possible to match the basic 13,600 Abarth price.

My 500 is the cabrio one - I have a 1.4 lounge in white, red roof and italian side stripes...
I needed a new car after my MX5 finance finished and I wanted to downsize to something cool and cheap! Decided on the detailing I wanted which was the Sport 1.4 and was discussing about how there was no point doing a test drive as it was so different to my MX5. I had virtually signed up and the guy said - have you even seen the soft top version - and I hadn't - but I was sold!!! Decided to drop a few bits like the leather and the colour to help pay for it, and as there is no Sport on the C version that helped costwise - although I did keep the upgraded stereo!!!
Anyway had it for 2 weeks now and I love it... Will post up pics when I get some (too muddy at the moment!) Its definitely a head turner...

1.2 Sport for me.
I originally went to the showroom to look at a Grande Punto but my wife had other ideas!
We tried a 1.2 Lounge, liked it so decided to configure our own car. After three attempts we came up with something that we liked, ordered it and then 6 weeks into the order modified the spec to include leather seats and the powered sunroof!
As Valentino Rossi fans the colour was non-negotiable --- it HAD to be yellow!

I don't understand either. But good news, you can set it in easily. You get the light at your dealer, it's the same as in the Panda, the partnumber is 0060665239, the cable is already laid. The installation is easy. The price for the light was about 20 for me, in Germany.
You can see the pictures here (http://www.fiat500blog.de/index.php?/archives/248-Bastelstunde-Kofferraumbeleuchtung-nachruesten.html), I don't think that you need a translation. The pics speak for themselves.
If you need further help to install it, let me know!

An 08 plate was registered between March and August 2008, a 58 plate was registered between September and April.
The first letter represents a geographical region with the second letter as an issuing letter. Then the numbers as above, followed by a random three letter combination.

We are able to customize our plates as long as they have at least two letters and one number. For example "NEW-500", "MY-500", "RED-500" or "AS-5"(biggrin2), only imagination is the limit. Cost is 1000 euros.

I think it has two clips on the side, that you press when you are pulling it out, Id check but I currently away from my 500 :-(

The best thing is take a mirror and so look at the mechanism.
Just going out with the mirror & to check for the clips. good job its still light out here in Worcestershire. Thanks for the tips guys.
1.3 multijet lounge. climate control. sunroof. italien stripes. side rubbing strip. average of 55 mpg blatting along at 80+. When i stick to 50 mph i have got 84 mpg. Its not much fun though.

The one over the shelf at front of the passengerseat: Put your finger in the little slot and pull towards you and down!
Under the seat( not on leatherseats and on cars with interscope):
Lift up the front end of the seat and pull towards the shelf / dashboard. Then put your hand behind the rear end of the seat cushion and lift it up!

I have an Abarth SS. I had a Lupo for years, and always wished I had gotten a GTI.
The Abarth seemed to be the closest car to the Lupo GTI available on the market today. Only its faster, nicer interior and comes with lots more toys.
Thank you Abarth for making a car that is so much fun to drive :icon_thumleft:

How do you see if someone is a spammer? I mean if they post a "normal" post, without any references to S.. etc?

Hi Wrecky,
you can look up the name or better the IP of a new member and check it at www.stopforumspam.com (http://www.stopforumspam.com/). Almost every spammer is known there.
BedlinerBob was suspect as he didn't refer in any case to the kind of our forum: no word about 500, about cars in general - just about a forum.
By the way, I think I've read the perfectly identical text before.

And just by looking at his profile. I believe it said he was from US, but also his occupation or interests were "US". Not very clever...

BTW PeterO: When I go to Italy in september, do I drive by Oberhausen then? If I do it would be fun to meet up with you and have a look at your 500:) Would only be a very short stop tough, as we plan on driving nonstop to Liguria:cool:

Meeting: Yes, it would really be fun to meet. I looked at your passage through Germany, and while you're on the segment between Hannover and Frankfurt, you'll pass Oberhausen by 150 kms. Oberhausen is far west close to the Dutch border. It's a little bit off your route, but sure it would be nice.

On Flickr I found a picture of a beautiful blue 500 (http://www.flickr.com/photos/emmkayfive/4894155137/in/pool-396035@N20/) out of the Oslo region. First I thought of yours, but a second look proved it wasn't.

Here is the same car as you found a photo of, this car was the reason I chose jive blue! I was actually decided on a red one and could not make up my mine if I should choose pasodable red or your kind of red:) Then I did see this car displayed in the dealership and we absolutely fell in love with itlol Never regreted for a second:icon_thumleft: This car is a 1,3mjet pop, looks exactly like mine, just with other wheels and no crome on mirrors:cool:
http://www.500fans.com/showthread.php?t=76&page=2
My car and this car is the only jive blue ones sold at my dealership:icon_thumleft: Just a few was sold nationwide as most dealerships did not take them in as demonstrators and the color configurator wasen`t very accurate when it came to colorslol
I will try out different routes on the google maps for my Italia trip and see which one that brings me closest to Oberhausen. Maybe I could drive through Holland, Belgium and France if it is not too much further than driving the A7 through Germany. I know we will come a shore in Germany in either Puttgarten or Rostock and we have tought of going via Innsbruck and drive in to Italia via Trent, just to get a slightly different route than last year. We will see which route we decide on. It is still three weeks until we start:icon_thumright:

Interesting to read about the various choices!
I went for a Pop 1.2, because I didn't like the Lounge's glass roof, which left too little headroom. I did really like the fit of the Sport's seats, but did not like their colours and the black dashboard, nor the bigger wheels...
So a Pop it had to be, although I've more or less specced it up to Lounge standards with Blue & Me, Interscope, Split rear seats & Climate Control.

I got a 1.4 sport. I was going to go for a 500 with a sunroof but it didn't suit the car or the colour, also my dad would of had a problem getting in and out of the poor thing (6'4") Anyway, i didn't go for a smaller engine as i learnt with BSM 1.2l basic pop and that wasn't good on my local roads, hence why i have abarth alloys for stability whilst bouncing about on the A and B rural roads of Surrey. :)
