View Full Version : Problems with Upholstery?

I have a black 500 Lounge 1.2 with the black and white interior and black and white check upholstery.

If I get into the car and it's raining, the raindrops falling onto the upholstery cause water marks on the fabric. Same thing happens if I get in wearing a wet coat.

So, what to do? I used a proprietary brand of car upholstery cleaner and the seat now looks as though I have allowed a five year old to sit in the driver's seat whilst eating McDonalds fries and drinking a soft drink, all the while wiping his or her hands on the seat.

I mentioned the fact that the fabric marks easily - I have water marks on the passenger seat but rarely have a passenger sitting there. The Service Manager said, 'Yes, we've noticed there's a problem with that particular upholstery.' Another member of staff said the same thing.

Not unreasonably, I thought, I asked if they would steam clean the two seat pads for me - the agreed but wanted to charge me £20.00! They'd just agreed the fabric wasn't performing as a seat cover should but wouldn't put it right for me.

I would have great difficulty selling the two year old car with the seats in the state that they are in.

Has anyone else had problems with this black and white check fabric and, more interestingly, have they had their complaints listened to and a solution found?

I´ve noticed the problem with the water and snow falling onto the seats when opening the door, but despite that my seats are as good as new! And I have the same Lounge seats as you.

Same here, but I dont have the same interiour as I have the blu avorio interiour:) I use seat protectors for the back of the front seats because of the kids with boots, and I always have an blanket under the childrens seats to protect the seat from any spillings from the kids etc...

I have noticed that the checkered seats stain easily (I threw my ice scraper on the passenger seat, and it has left slight grey dirt marks). It probably wont be a big problem for me, since I drive alone most of the time, but I'll know to put a blanket on the seat when getting in with dirty work clothes :-).

Have you tried using a product like or similar to "ScotchGard" by 3M? I know they have specific Auto interiors.
