As soon as word hit that Fiat and Chrysler were striking a deal, visions of 500s and Alfas began dancing in our heads. According to an anonymous source speaking with Automotive News, those visions aren't too far off, and they could be realized within a year.
[/URL]In a bid to kick-start Fiat and Alfa Romeo's return to the U.S., the automaker could start exporting vehicles to the States as early as 2010. After which – and assuming the reception's warm – Fiat would begin producing the 500 and the new Alfa 940 in North America in mid-2011. At the onset, the first models available would be limited to a few thousand and would be sold through Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep retailers.

Great News. Lets just hope they bring the Abarth. My dilemma is do I get a 1.3 Multijet or 1.4 sport and then move to the Abarth? Something like Carolos lol

My brother sport09 got the 1.4 sport and when he test my Abarth he gave it back (a 3 weeks old car) and got the Abarth! ;)
If the Abarth is available, go for it!

I think you should go for the abarth straight away...As Carolos wrote you dont wanna loose all that money if you are gonna trade in an almost new 500 for an abarth:icon_thumleft: And I bet that they are gonna take the abarth to the US rather soon than later so it can be a compitator to the Cooper S...
I dont think they will bring the 1,2 to the US at all since americans drive more in general than europeans, and since they are used to larger engines and more equipment in theire cars than we arelol A 1,4 is a small enough engine for the US marketlollol

Ive been thinking, wont the car have to be americanised, i.e have additional kit that is very popular in the US fitted. For example the lights on the corner of the car (like on the Volvos) and other things that are popular in the US. I think they had to do the same thing with the minis when they were launched over there.

I think, Ewan, the different spec for the US market was discussed when a member was thinking of shipping a 500 to the US now and how it wouldn't be acceptable.
Would believe you are correct though.. different country.. different spec. After all, Wreckmaster has got a different basic spec to us (heated seats:()
