My brakes are making a noise like the pads are badly worn. Had this before and, in the first instance, the dealer 'deglazed' them. The noise returned and the brake pads were replaced. A few hundred miles and the noise has returned. Anyone else had this issue ? I don't do many miles per day, could this have something to do with it?

I had the same problem when my car wasn't used as much, like when I was on holiday, its caused by rust deposits forming on the surface of the break disc. Its nothing to worry about, and after a few miles, it'll go away.

I succest that you do a very hard braking every once in a while. On a empty road preferably. Thatīs because when you drive along normally and do soft brakings, you donīt use your rear brakes at all. And this means, ecpecially in winter time when thereīs loads of dirt everywhere, that your rear brakes collect the dirt and might get stuck. And also if you use them hard it will clear the surface of the brake pads or shoes. I think.
My english vocabulary is not so good, so hope you understand...

VilleV is absolutely right. When you brake normally you brake 70% on front brakes and 30% on rear brakes. Thats why you need to brake hard sometimes, to get rust and dirt off the brakes. If you dont have rear brake discs it is also important to do this so your rear brakes are equal on both sides...

Thanks chaps for your comments. VilleV... understood completely what you were suggesting :icon_thumleft:
On the previous set of pads, I did try braking hard (in the car park at work) but it didnt cure the problem, perhaps it was too late. However, with the new pads, I will have to start doing this regularly. It's just so annoying:mad:

You could also drive like a 100meters or so with your handbrake on, this will do the same thing with your brakes and also keep your handbrake adjusted:icon_thumleft: If you dont drive much you could do this like once aweek or so...:icon_thumleft: But offcourse not full on, then your rear wheels will lock : )

Ours have done this a couple of times - usually after standing for a few days or after a wash. Always stops after a short drive...

I have tried braking harder but the noise is still there. Spoke to the dealer who has had quite a few people with the same issue, although Cadbury is the only one to have had the brakes pads replaced. Think I will contact FiatUK again, it is so blooming annoying
