Congratulations to Azerbaijan! This song was in the 3rd place of my poll. The 1st one was Sweden, and the 2nd one was Hungary.
And as always, Spain in one of the last positions.

We went to a friends house Eurovision party and we stayed from 17:00 until 3 a.m. in the morning. Very nice party!
As one of my friends said: Eurovision is for us,the gay people, as important as it is a footbal match of Madrid-Barcelona for heterosexuals. ha,ha!

Pardon my silly question, but what is Eurovision?

From reading your responses, it looks to be some sort of musical contest... is that right?

I am claiming ignorance, being from Americalol

You´ve got that part about The Eurovision being a song contest right, Mike!:icon_thumleft:

It´s an annual event held since 1956. Shame only that Finland has only won it once with a band called "Lordi"...

Here´s some info:

Eurovision is a platform for the cooperation of national television stations in Europe. Once a year they run a song festival, where representants of the members send in their shares.

Cut. From now on my comment.
They block a soccer stadium for some 60,000 viewers for weeks and build in giant stages. They hold up qualifications. They send features and magazines about it a long time before the event. Even the newspapers are filled with uninteresting details about it.
Finally they have got about 40 little pieces of musical crap. Each of them, really EACH, is bad, boring, insignificant, each of them presented by one, two or three boring insignificant "performers", each of them acting in front of some mad silly dance choreography.
All this little crap is wrapped in an enormous lightshow and a simultanous broadcast all over Europe.
This year I switched into the short run at the end, when every entry was shown for 15 seconds. They ALL resembled the ones in American Superstar, second round. Simply mad. Again I asked myself: Who looks at that, and more: Who LIKES that?
Of course everyman should have the favourites of his own and should do what he wants, but I simply do not gasp the reason for being a fan for it in a world with Neil Young, R.E.M., Sarah McLachlan, Emmylou Harris, Norah Jones, Ryan Adams, Rolling Stones, ...

WHO? Millions of people all around Europe and the world.

Friends of me, that are eurofans, told me that the worst thing this year were the german presenters, specially the man, someone called Stefan Raab. I felt ashamed because of the silly things he done during the show. :no-no::duh: I don't understand how can german people could like this man, that it seems that he is very famous in Germany.

Hi Pethead,

the question is not, as you try to explain, WHO likes this event,
but who LIKES it.

It is all second or third class, which includes the presenters. Every year there are presenters that fit the event. When it is in Germany, the bad presenters are from Germany, of course.
If you complain yourself about the presenters, you can't offend me. I like Stefan Raab as much I like the Song Contest. It won't hit me, sorry for you.

Now boys, remember good manners. Nothing against a good argument as long as we remember to respect each other.

Really? Do you think that your comments were with good manners? Should I remember your words?:

"..musical crap...", "...Each of them, really EACH, is bad, boring, insignificant..." , "...Simply mad..."
Your words were nice, really nice!:icon_thumright:
