About to order a Fiat 500

Hi everyone, my name's Benjamin from Bromsgrove and I will be placing a order for a Fiat 500 Lounge with several options so it will be a complete factory order.
I've two main Fiat dealers near to my location and I have visited both. The first was to have a good look and a 500 and test drive it, in addition to getting some figures for the lease.
I then visited the larger dealer further from my house and I expressed that I will be placing my order at the beginning of next month in order for the car to arrive in September when the new 61 plates are issued.
I had told the sales man that I was here to get some final deals and to see which dealer could offer me the best deal. He said that no matter where I bought it from they could not offer any deal since "Fiat only give the dealership a small commission" on each car sold.
This seemed like sales rubbish to me and perhaps since I'm young (21) he perhaps thought I would just roll along with that. Is what he says true?
I will have to wait until the beginning of next month to get a final price from each dealer since that is where their quarter ends and the new deals come in.

I dont think there is much discount to find on the 500:( Atleast not on a factory order. Atleast it is like this here in Norway:)

same here in the States. not much markup at all. the FIAT Studios here are banking on customers bringing their cars back in for warranty and maintenance work.

from what I understand, it will be some time before the dealers in the U.S. actually become profitable.

Here in Greece you can get some gifts, like mats and stripes but the price is always standard if you order the car on your specs, if the car is old stock and they have a few in the same color and specs, you may get a better price!

Yes my next plan was to try and work out some other kind of deal, since I have two Fiat garages near I can work out who will give me the best deal.
Fiat's finance is currently only 2.5% however their quarter is about to end, hopefully this figure will remain the same.
Are there any truth in the car receiving an update in 2012 or is that just related ot the American release?

Well it's ordered! I picked a White 1.2 lounge with the red and White pop interior. Then as extras I included the chrome mirrors, rubbing strips, spot lights and the Italian flag which runs across the bonnet and roof. It should arrive September.

Wow! Welcome, and CONGRATS!

I am quite interested to know what exactly are "spot lights"? That sounds like additional front facing head lamps... maybe what are called "fog lights" in NA?
