Cadbury's first service is only six months away (blimey, the first six months went quick!)... so I have being making enquiries about cost.

There appears to be a vast difference in the cost of a service. My dealer is quoting £325 or £883 for 3-year package.

Anyone in the UK had their first service yet?

I hear the 1.2 engine is the most expencive one to service. I have to get mine serviced too within a month, and comparing to GP 1.2 servicing prices I can expect it to cost anything from 250 to 350 euros.

We looked at the servicing costs when ordering . Arnold Clark, where we bought it from , do a 3 year deal for £349 total, for which we paid up front . Maybe this is a bit of a gamble in case the dealer goes bust ,but its done now and hopefully all we do is turn up at the dealer every May till 2011.:)
From the info available at that time ,£350 per sevice seemed the going rate.
In fact another dealer; Brindley were offering a 3 year package for approx £900 !

12 months on : the car is more established and of course we are in troubled economic times, so perhaps the servicing costs are now more reasonably priced.

PS does a Panda service cost the same as a 500 ?

I wonder how much the parts cost to carry out a service ?

It's probably best that we do not know because I think we would feel ripped off:eek:

The main thing is to get the Fiat approved stamp in the service book

I fear it is the stamp that costs that £300.00. Lets face it, servicing a Jaguar XKR at the dealership costs £800, we serviced the Jag with Jag main dealer parts for a total price of £175 for a 60,000 mile full service!

I am going to have to pay the price to get her serviced as since my pistons were changed I am using an obscene amount of oil!

I just think that the charge is completly excessive. I looked what a first year service is, and its just an oil change, and a new air filter, thats all it needs. I wonderif this is fiat profiteering, as the purchase price of a new 500 is alot lower that its nearest competitor the mini (My friend has a 1.2 one , and ther servercing price was way lower)

Isn't the Mini deal (TLC) £150 for 5years/50,000 miles ?:icon_thumleft:Although I have always thought why not add it to the OTR price of the car and promote it as free servicing for 5 years ?

I think it was something like that, I never looked into minis when the 500 came out lol Anyways it just sound worse for the little 500 :-S I just think something is wrong when a 3 cyl 1.2 petrol engine, costs less to service than a 3.0 Litre 4 Cyl Turbocharged Diesel (the volvo)

You don't have to go to a Fiat dealer, as long as genuine Fiat parts are used, the warranty stands.

When I bought mine, I took the 2 year service deal at £250. I thought it would work out cheaper in the long run - seems I was right! Service prices are shocking, not matter what type of car you have. After the first 2 services I will be asking a mechanic friend of mine to do the next one. It's unbelievable how much of the service cost is not parts, just their hourly rate!

Why did it need a respray Ewan ?

This sound embarrising..,I tried to drive with flip flops on (was camping) and it kind of came off, when the car was in gear, and when I was trying to park it, so the car sort of took off at low speed and hit a woodern past at like 5mph it wasn't cracked or anything, just cosmetic.

I got mine serviced today. One year old and 6000km on the clock, cost 255 euros. Not cheap, but I guess in the end its the customer who pays for the five year warranty!
