View Full Version : Vegas!
I went to Las Vegas over the weekend for Wustefest (http://www.wustefest.com/) (Which is a euro car show in Vegas). There was a big caravan about 60 cars from Barstow (small Hodunk town in the middle of the desert, most only stop for food and gas) to Las Vegas. There were formal events, but my friend in I just went to the strip. Most cars were GTIs. The car I rode in was a bit more power lol. My friend drives a CLS55 AMG, perfect car for Vegas. Parking structures instantly became a playground, we would gun the engine just to hear Kompressor. lol

This helped us make friends in the desert. If they didn't see our back window, we would drop a gear and the e growl of the AMG would get their attention.

We rode 2 of the 3 rides on the top of the Stratosphere. The "Big Shot" became the butt of jokes for the rest of the weekend.

Looks like great fun:_ubriachi_:lol But what is the meaning with the blue tape writing? I bet you cant wait to go there with a Abarth500 when you get one:cool: But remeber no blue tape on the 500:roflmfao: It made the Merc look a bit "chav" as i belive the Britts in here call itlol
Do you have more pictures of the other cars at this event?

:super:
The blue tape started on road courses where people would blue tape their headlights to rock chips. Then it transformed from on the racetrack to people driving long distances who wanted to protect their front ends. The highway from Southern California to Las Vegas is not paved very well so some people blue tape their cars. There was a group of 60+ people meeting up for the drive to Las Vegas. And their was a guy in VW GLI who did not know how to drive. He kept brake checking us and cutting us off, so we wrote "What up Bitch" to him. Then we just kept the message on for weekend, yes it was "Chav" but its fun.
I won't blue tape my 500, i'll order special white masking tape before I get my clear bra. lol
Here is some pictures of the cars. (http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=4423653&page=1)

It was the blue tape I tought made the Merc look a bit strange. The car itself looked OK. I agree that the Nova is chavlol You should have seen my first car:
Yellow Ascona B with totally black windows, 235 tires in the rear and 205 in the front. Made wider in the rear end by removing original wheel arches and fitting arches from Golf MK1. Big stereo, yellow instrument plates and slammed to the ground with springs cut in to a third of original size. When MOT I put approved lowering springs with TUF clearance so I got it on the vehicle papers. When OK at MOT I went straight home and fitted the really low springs againlol Also had an ekstra set of side windows, because everytime the police pulled me over complaining on the dark windows I had to change the windows go to the police station showing that I had "pulled off" the dark film. When this was done it was straight home again changing to dark ones againlol Ohhhh those where the days.........

Wow that looked like fun!
We got married in Vegas last year too! No Elvis though! Would be great to go back when there was a car show on. Lee (my husband) would give his left arm to get into the Sema show. :)

So many Vegas weddings! :icon_thumleft: I want to go to a Sema show too, but I like my limbs more.
One tip of advice for Vegas: Don't get drunk in the day time and then go to the Ferrari store. Or you will end up with 3 bags of Ferrari merch. lol

Lmao, I did the same thing when I was in Sorrento in Italy :-)
But I guess 90% of things occur in Vagas when people are wasted :-)

Yes I stayed away from the Ferrari store, from now on i've banned shopping while drinking. No mad greeks, mostly Mexicans. I'm pretty sure the Mad Greek Cafe is the largest employer definitely in the top 3. And the amazing thing about my Nissan is that it has a 20 Gallon tank, i was getting around 25 mpg (3ppl luggage, and 100+ temps, AC on max) so thats good for at least 125 miles.

Sound like good MPG then:icon_thumleft: Do they make greek food in the mad greek cafe? Nothing is like greek food!!!!!!! Tzatziki, kleftiko, soulaki, saganaki, lamb etc.....yummi:icon_thumleft: Much better than tacos thats for surelol

I have Mexican food at least twice a week. Its part of any San Diegan's diet. Perhaps I'm too far from Greece, but in San Diego there much more Taco Shops than Greek food. And tacos actually in Mexico are unparalleled, especially with a coke in a glass bottle. They did serve Greek food at the Mad Greek and it was good. Greek food is always so fresh tasting :icon_thumleft:, I need to experience more of it.

When ever I drive to LV I always feel like I driving in England, because the idea of moving over so the faster car can pass does not exist. So everybody stays in the left lane our "passing lane." You have to pass everybody on the right, and then move back to the left when a semi comes. It's really annoying

You find that most people that drive on the motorways in this country don't stick to the rules anyway. They either sit in the middle or fast lanes doing whatever speed they feel like, and people who 'can' drive have to move over extra lanes to get past!
I've only ever driven in America once, and that was sure exciting! First time driving a left hand drive car, and first time driving on the right (hadn't even driven in France or anywhere else in mainland Europe). I went from Fort Worth, TX, to San Francisco, and back again!

Don't start me off about stupid motorway drivers. It infuriates me when I have to pull out two lanes in order to pass a pi****k sitting in the middle lane... then pull back to the inside lane.
