Bet you CAN'T WAIT lol

I can't!! As far as I know it's somewhere in the UK on the back of a car transporter, making it's way to Milton Keynes (poor thing). My dealer has promised to ring the second it arrives.

It'll be 8 weeks on Tuesday since I ordered it, so it's been quite quick, but then I've been without a car for the last 4 of that, which hasn't half dragged the time out. It's a pain living out in the sticks and not being able to get anywhere.

As soon as I can get pictures, they will be up!!

If it is on the back of the transporter it is on it's way to the dealer

Wont be long before you are :399:

There are a few of us around Luton/Milton Keynes now... perhaps we can have a get-together. Anyone from further afield care to join us before the big gathering of the 500fans members?

Am up for that, too, Cadbury. A suggestion for a venue, The Ace Cafe in North West London is a good place for meetings for all things motorised! On the North Circular. Everyone and Everything seems to meet there! Dead easy to get to, good grub. Beginning of September? (Should have mine by then!biggrin2)

For me it is just about the same distance to Stockholm( where the ferry to Helsinki goes) as it is too Bergen where Cyberdog liveslol So I guess I live about in the middle between the two of you:) a little under 600km to Bergen. And about 500km`s to Stockholm:D

Oh no, I don't check this for a few days and my thread has been hijacked!! :icon_thumright:

Went to see my dealer this afternoon and apparently my car is due there tomorrow morning. Should be ready for Monday pickup if all goes to plan!

I'd definately be up for a little 500 meetup, although I have no idea how to actually get to the Ace Cafe. I drive past the M1/A406 junction enough times you'd think I'd know where it was!

Ace Cafe has it's own website. Remember passing the Cafe on the way back from Ikea.

Noooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Annoyingly discovered I wont be able to actually drive my car when I pick it up on Monday.
Because I'm getting it on the scrappage scheme, and my old car that's being scrapped is in my dear mother's name, my new 500 is also in her name. Was planning on doing the Aviva 7 day Driveaway insurance, and then sign the car over to me as soon as we have it, and then set up real insurance.
Of course they wouldn't put a secondary driver on the 7 day thing, so I can't drive it :triste:

Cadbury
16th July 2009, 16:09
Under the scrappage scheme, doesn't the new vehicle have to stay in the same name for a year ? No reason why you can't get your dear mother to pick it up in the morning and then take your insurance out in the afternoon. Send the V5 off the same day

No, the old vehicle has to be in the persons name for a full year to qualify it. New vehicle can be pretty much signed over as soon as you take ownership of it. And yeh, that's the plan, to send the V5 off right away and get myself a policy.
Just sad that I cannot drive it away!

I have to say that those insurances you´ve got in Britain are quite strange! I´ve never understood them. It weird that you have to name drivers, otherwise you cant drive the car (is this correct?). Here it doesnt matter who drives the car or in whos name the insurance is, as long as the car is insured.

Sounds great:icon_thumleft: My wife was on IKEA on saturday while I and the kids where waiting outside. She used 10 minutes, that must be a new record for a woman in IKEA:icon_thumright: It is one of the most dangerous places for a mans credit cardlol They usually go in to buy a specific item and they comes out with 3 or 4 LARGE paper bags:)

Good luck with picking up your new car today and remeber

Being quite young and never having owned a car that you have to wash "properly", I am not fully aware of the correct method!

Feel free to give me some pointers. Also, is there something specific I need to look after all the crome, and also my nice shiney alloys?

I tend to just use this lol just add some warm water and waxy wash
it takes 20 min's and the results are pretty good,

WHAT:mad::mad::mad::mad:

Dont you want the best for your 500??? A perfect swirl free finish??????
Throw away the sponge, and buy a microfiber wash mitt, a couple of buckets, some really good car shampoo ( Meguires etc...) and a microfibre waffle weave drying towel:icon_thumleft::icon_thumleft: And for the polish waxing times buy some good polish and some good wax, plenty of applicator pads and buffing microfibers( made for car paint, not the kitchen type)

Sponges and chamois leathers makes swirls......:(:(:(

Sounds like a plan! Italian Bikes 'n' Cars Night at The Ace. Those that could cope with the extra wait until the 1st September will hopefully have their cars by then. Have noticed a number of fairly local members of this and other forums, maybe the word should go out?
