I've had my 500 since November last year and overall I'm delighted with it. People even stop me in car parks to ask about the car!

However, right from the start I found that the left hand indicator wouldn't turn off automatically after turning the corner and eventually I took it in to the dealers who told me ... after fidgeting with it for a few minutes ... that all Fiats do that?

Are they trying it on? Does your indicator turn off okay?

The next thing is the Eco-Drive. It used to work OK at first but now it won't upload the data with the audible message 'Updating' and 'Update completed'. Any ideas why?

And finally. The video that's on the Fiat website [somewhere] shows EcoDrive doing all sorts of exciting things, like analysing a particular journey with bar charts and such-like. All I get is a little window that tells me that I accelerate too fast. Does yours do anything more interesting?

Thanks for listening!

Hi Gadget and :welcomeon500: :) About the indicator: I belive this is a common problem, atleast many people has got this problem. I have just got used to it, and pretty much just use the lane shift indicator. If I use normal indicators I always watch and listen if the indicatorlight switches off by it self, if it dos not I switch it offlol When it comes to eco-drive I have`t bothered to try this:p Enjoy your great little car and feel free to post some pictures of it on the forum:icon_thumleft:

Hey Gadget and welcome to 500fans!:icon_thumleft: My indicators work like they should, so no probs there.
I havent tried the eco-drive either. I dont think I could take the lectures it would give me for not driving very ecologically...:D

So far it's 50-50 as to whether the dealer was telling porkie pies.

50-50 with the indicator problem but about the Eco-Drive, it does get a little tedious, being told that I accelerate too hard or brake too late but I did improve my level from 50% to 73% so I don't feel too bad, I'm just pissed off that the woman hiding inside my dashboard won't talk to me any more!

Hi Gadget and welcome.

I've worked at a dealership and not enjoyed it one little bit, due to the large porkie pies, I left not long after starting as I was astounded at what the salesmen use to tell the customers. Lesson 1 - salesmen know NOTHING about cars, other than the fact that there is a bonnet and a boot! Sorry.

Anyway, enjoy your little bundle of joy. Remember, the best things in life are never perfect. Welcome again. :xyxwave:

I was aware that the Dealer knew possibly nothing about the car. He told me he'd only been working there for about two weeks although he had a Mazda jacket on, having worked for them previously.

He was, however, a lovely man!

He told me that the 'City' mode for the power steering turned itself off at 35 mph. It doesn't you know.

He didn't show me where the horn was - I know it was fairly obvious but I collected the car at night and lots of them have the horn on a stalk now.

He let me drive off with just the driving lights on - he sat in the car with me and briefly talked me through the controls and then I drove off. I only noticed when I was 100 yards away because I couldn't see the speedo.

He showed me under the bonnet in pitch dark with no torch or anything and said, 'I think that's the dipstick'.

But I still love the little car. I'm thinking of giving it a name, it's called 'the car' now but that's not very snappy, is it?

Any suggestions [not rude please].
Did you know that B.S.M. are using the 500 for their driving school fleet?

oooh, didn't know that BSM were using them, good news for Fiat!

Is your little one a girl or boy?

I guess it's a girl but my partner says I should call it Crocodile because that's snappy!

It's a Lounge 1.2 in black with chrome bits all over the place and a white interior. Classy!

Hmm, I was told 20mph for City mode switching itself off. And it DOES turn off, and then turn on again automatically when the speed drops again. The word "City" will stay up on the dash so you know it's set to "on" and will kick in when you need it.

I heard about the BSM thing today. Their contract with Vauxhall ran out last year so they're stopping using Corsas now. The 500 is the safest car in it's class, and really ideal for learning in. Although I'm now worried that my new car will be slightly less cool now that 17 year olds will be crashing in them all the time :(
