HEYA was just wondering if anyone could help me, i have had a little bump in my car and it is sooooo expensive to get it fixed, so with the help of my dad and brother i was thinking of doing it myself, i have looked on ebay for a light blue bumper with the crome kit thing that is on the bumper and it does not look too expensive, was just wondering if anyone knew how to take off the damaged original bumper and fit a new one, is it hard to do??
thanx

Have no idea really, but if you buy a good bumper from ebay I cant imagine that a bodyshop charges too much to fit it on the car for you:icon_thumleft: Then it will be fitted perfectly too, which can be a bit of a problem doing it by your self.
BTW :welcomeon500: and please remeber that :icon_worthless:

Hi,
I believe that you need some standard tools, ratchet set, or how do you call it, most probably some torx bits and a few screw drivers.
It shouldn't be too difficult to get it off and I believe when you have the new part you'll see where the old one is fitted.
I believe there are screws or nuts in the area where it touches the wings on the sides as it has to give a tight fit in that area.
It might well be that yuo need access from below the car as the bumper possibly is fitted to some sound proofing cowling too, either with clips or screws.
Just lay down on the floor and look.
The screws to the wings might be hidden behind the wheel arch cowlings.
Remember that it should come off quite easy and if it doesn't, then most probably it's still fixed somewhere.
Take care not to scratch the front wings while fitting the new part. The easiest it to be 2 persons, one on each side.
You can also put some protection tape on the wings in the concerned area (side).

Hi
:welcomeon500:
I had a little accident in mine, where I slightly dented it, but the bumper thing is plastic, so they couldn't simply hammer out the dent, as it would just crack the plastic, looking worse, I had to have a new bumper fitted!!!
If I remember correctly, (from the dealer showing me) there are few bots holding it in place, but they are in really really hard to access areas of the bodywork (like in the hatch in the wheel well where the spot lamp is housed. If you can take off the front wheels, and take out a few bits in the engine bay, then it should be possible to replace the bumper your self (I was going to but my parents wouldn't let me lol)
Thanks
Ewan
