Hallo to all,
first I have to apologize for waiting so long to introduce myself. I'm from Oberhausen, Germany, and my 500 is a quite rare one, because it is orange.
One and a half year ago I needed a new car to replace my 16 year old Ford. As I had always been completely pleased with that car, it would be very hard for any car to follow it up. Finally my eyes fell more and more on the small Fiat cars, either a Panda or a 500. The style made the difference: it should be a 500. I did not want to wait 3 months or more to get one, so I combed up the local area to look what was available. I was not quite sure what colour it should have, but I thought red or blue should be fine. Soon I found one that suited all my wishes: a 1,4 Sport without glass roof. But it was orange, not my first choice. I costed me one weekend to think it over, and the next weekend I was on the road with the small car. It took some time to lose my hate about sitting so high, the assumption wasn't as good as I expected, and I didn't really feel the 100 HPs.
Soon I got used to the sitting position, the fuel assumption got lower, and I learned one knob on the dashboard is really useless: The Sport button has to been pushed, always! Now, 22,000 kms later, the car goes real fast.
Meanwhile my sit is 3 cms lower because of my Eibach springs - it's a fault not to have them exchanged.
The car works perfectly, and my fears about the quality of Italian cars are gone. The colour is great, by now I'm glad I was pushed to it by luck.
I spend a lot of my time in a german forum for the 500 as a mod, it's the 500club.de (http://500club.de)
When I compare these site with the 500club site, I recognize, there is a part of common topics, but a whole lot of national specific topics as well.
An international forum is a great idea, and I appreciate it very much you run one.
I'll try my very best to be a little more active here!
You can see a lot of photos showing my 500 (http://www.flickr.com/photos/obinob/sets/72157622984997400/) at Flickr.
Best wishes to all the 500 owners, drivers and fans all over the world!
